Sun-soaked and stylish: our favourite boutique hotels in Majorca

Fresh back from another week in sunny Majorca, blogger and interior designer Danielle shares with us what makes the island’s boutique hotels so special.

I have been in love with the island of Majorca for over a decade now, ever since I first visited back in 2006, whilst living in Madrid. Weekends in Majorca felt a world away from busy city life and a true break from the everyday.

Over the last few years Majorca has been booming with boutique hotels, combining comfort and luxury with the history that lies behind the beautiful stone buildings. So whether you’re travelling with family, friends, or hunting for the perfect romantic break, I have selected six of the best boutique hotels across the Island to make your Majorca getaway as unforgettable an experience as mine.

An adults-only boutique hotel in Majorca

1/3

Great for… those seeking for an adults-only hotel in an unbeatable location.

With very close proximity to Palma, you get the best of both worlds in this boutique hotel, where you can enjoy great sea views and access to a stunning local beach. We stayed in a room with a view from the balcony and although it was compact, it had great décor and modern facilities with everything we needed for a great stay.

Set in a local neighborhood only lightly touched by tourism, if you don’t feel tempted by the delicious hotel restaurant, there are other great restaurants offering authentic local cuisine nearby. I have tried Balneario Illetas at the Beach, which offers the perfect menu to enjoy whilst appreciating the beautiful sea and sand views. Sorrento’s Garden Grill was great for a romantic dinner with the perfect setting to immerse yourself into the island lifestyle.

This boutique hotel has its own private access to a small beach, a spa and stunning views. As I like to explore new beaches whenever I can, we took the walk to Illetas Beach. It was a short walk and definitely worth a visit to enjoy this best kept secret.

The staff were also very welcoming and accommodating. We had to leave really early to catch our flight, but they still managed to organise breakfast for us!

Boutique stay in the heart of Palma’s Old Town

1/3

Great for… it’s location in the centre of Palma and elegant interiors.

If discovering historic buildings and wandering the scenic cobbled streets of old Palma is how you’d spend your ideal day, this is the boutique hotel for you!

Posada Terra Santa is an absolute delight. The historic building was a happy accident that its owners came across one day whilst wandering the streets of Old Palma; they fell in love with it immediately and started the renovation. Their goal was to create the perfect hotel, and they have absolutely achieved it. Posada Terra Santa opened its doors in 2014 and all 26 rooms boast modern and comfortable facilities with a touch of history, plenty of space and lots of luxury.

This boutique hotel exceeds all expectations . Whilst renovating the building, gothic characteristics dating back from the 1500’s were revealed, and they discovered that it is the former residence of the historic figure Baron Bunyolí. It is now listed amongst the most interesting buildings in Palma.

This boutique hotel also offers a great breakfast experience with local produce, and the restaurant La Despensa del Baron features a unique menu with Mediterranean, South American and Asian influence.

A boutique hotel in a converted monastery in Majorca

1/3

Great for… the best breakfast experience in Palma.

Truly stunning modern décor in this converted monastery adds to the charm of staying in the ancient heart of Palma at Icon Roseto. The hotel is situated in the historic heart of Palma, a five-minute walk from the famous Paseo del Borne and ten minutes from the monumental cathedral. The breakfast deserves a special mention; the chef is very passionate about making the first meal of the day the most memorable one, and it is referred to as ultimate breakfast experience in Palma.

With a roof terrace to sunbathe on during the day and to watch the sun set from with a glass of wine, the experience is complete.

Great for… romantic getaways for couples, or for enjoying a relaxing weekend playing golf or hiking.

Located in the old quarter of Alcudia, this boutique hotel is the perfect romantic setting for couples. The attention to detail makes it a very special stay. The 16 rooms retain their original stone walls and wooden beamed ceilings for an authentic experience along with great facilities for a luxury break.

Located in the north of Majorca, there is a lot to see in Alcudia including stunning Mediterranean beaches and the medieval walls surrounding the well-preserved old town and its historic buildings.

Sea views in a city centre boutique hotel in Majorca

1/3

Great for… spoiling yourself to one of the most amazing sea views in Palma.

Located in the historic centre of Palma in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city this hotel is just minutes away from the Cathedral and the town.
The boutique hotel Calatrava offers fantastic sea views from its many terraces; you can choose from private terraces and suites with either sea views or facing Old Palma. The rooms are very spacious, and offer one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!

The breakfast is served on the roof terrace with breathtaking views over Palma Bay, a perfect way to start the day.

This is a great base if you’re after a cultural break, exploring all that Palma offers within walking distance. Service at this hotel is outstanding and they will always go above and beyond to exceed your expectations.

A countryside boutique hotel for the ultimate relaxation holiday in Majorca

1/3

Great for… a relaxing luxury break surrounded by stunning scenery.

Picture an oasis surrounded by flowing trees, birds singing, and breath-taking views. Now add stunning country décor and modern facilities. That’s Son Jaumell – a picturesque hotel set in one of the most stunning areas of the island. This is the place to stay in if you’re seeking nature, an intimate hotel, great local cuisine and views to get lost in for days.

Capdepera is an unspoilt mountain-top town in the Eastern part of Majorca and a great one to explore on foot; a walk over the hill to Castell de Capdepera can be steep but the views make it more than worthwhile!

Hotel Son Jaumell is the perfect place to rest and re-energize in. Set in a beautifully restored villa surrounded by vineyards, you can unwind whilst you take all the nature in. Each one of the 26 rooms are beautifully decorated and equipped with a relaxing area which includes a hydro massage bath and a reading nook in each room. Some even have balconies to extend the room experience by blending the inside with the nature outside. Top all this off with Michelin star chef Andreu Genestra creating fresh, healthy, surprising and unique dishes, this is definitely a place to come back to again and again.
